Thoughts on my father inlaw. A very special man I miss Dad’s smile. A smile that never failed to greet me each time I passed through his room. Tired and weary at times, he always had a smile for me, whether to say hello or goodbye. I miss Dad’s voice. A voice filled with wisdom and kindness. Dad spoke with purpose and intention. His words were always meaningful and dignified. I miss Dad’s humbleness. Few people knew his early labors to gather and unite the INC brethren to assure the church would strengthen and grow in this part of the world. It was Dad and his sister who picked up Brother Erano G. Manalo as he first arrived to New York to bring the words of God to the eastern coast of the United States. I miss Dad’s strength. The strength that overcame the trials of having Pancreatic Ca. Three months the doctors told us. Your father has three months to live. His strength gave him 3years and 7months more. It was the same strength he had during the last moments of his life. Though physically weak and unable to move his limbs, with all his might he lifted his arms trembling and shaking as he wrapped them around his daughter for a final embrace. I miss Dad’s love. Love for God, love for the Church, love for the brethren and love for his family. At the very last moment of his life tears fell from his eyes perhaps in sadness in leaving behind those he loved so deeply. We love you too Dad. You will forever be in our hearts. Rest now in peace Dad. You have finished your race; you have fought the good fight… Racquel R. Edralin
